Homecoming 2019-2020 Candidates

Meet the candidates at Royalty Showcase in the Student Center Ballroom, 7-9pm on Monday, October 7th.

Following the showcase, students will vote for each candidate.

Winners will be announced at halftime at the UK Football vs. Arkansas game on October 12th.

Joe Walden King nomination by Alpha Phi Omega and Center for Community Outreach

Joe Walden was born in Cincinnati, OH but spent many weekends and holidays in Lexington with his grandparents, Brad and Barbara Walden. Joe is a proud alum of Cincinnati La Salle High School and was raised in a family of six kids by his parents, Mark and Kim Walden. At UK, Joe has been involved in many organizations across campus, including Alpha Phi Omega, the Center for Community Outreach, and Alternative Service Breaks. Joe is studying Psychology & Neuroscience and minoring in Spanish. Next year, Joe hopes to pursue a medical degree in order to practice as a Pediatric Oncologist."

Andrew Lin King Nomination by Engineering LLP

Andrew Lin is a Junior majoring in Chemical Engineering and Music Performance. He is from Lexington, Kentucky and is the son of Winston and Elizabeth Lin. Andrew is involved in the University of Kentucky Symphony Orchestra and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers Chemical Car Team. He also volunteers with the Boy Scouts of America as an Assistant Scoutmaster."

Michael Hasis King Nomination American Sign Language and Deaf Culture Club

Michael Hasis is the son of Maryann and Leonard Hasis. Michael is a senior from South Fayette Township, Pennsylvania. Michael is majoring in Communication Sciences and Disorders with minors in Family Sciences, Linguistics, and German and a Certificate in Global Studies."

Jonathan Thomas King Nomination by Alpha Delta Pi

Jonathan Thomas, the son of Mark and Judy Thomas, is a senior from Hopkinsville, Kentucky majoring in Economics and Business Management. He is a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity, Cats For Christ, and the Economics Society. He was nominated by Alpha Delta Pi Sorority"

Matthew Luce King Nomination by Student Activities Board

Matthew Luce is a 3rd year Marketing and Information Communications Technologies Major from Downers Grove, IL. Matt is involved on campus as a Director on the Student Activities Board, a Resident Advisor in Jewell Hall, a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, and a hearing member on the UK Student Conduct Hearing Board. Once graduated, he has aspirations to be a Chief Information/Innovation officer. Matt would like to thank his parents, Wayne and Lynda, for their unconditional love and support throughout his life, and the University of Kentucky for the countless opportunities it has offered him."

Tsage Douglas Queen Nomination by Center for Community Outreach

Tsage Douglas is a senior, dual-degree candidate in ‘Public Health’ and ‘International Economics, French.’ Passion for economics led her to work at the Federal Reserve Bank and research monetary policy. She has taught high schoolers at the Governor’s School and data science at NKU. She has now begun PhD courses in mathematics and economics to challenge herself. A Lexington native, she is also passionate about giving back and coordinates service opportunities for UK students with non-profits both locally and nation-wide. She has helped over 800 students serve to date. She enjoys films, ballet, and music in her rare spare time."

Maggie Davis Queen Nomination by Chi Omega

Maggie Davis is a senior at the University of Kentucky, studying Broadcast Journalism, Political Science, and Digital Media and Design. She’s from Lexington, Kentucky, where she grew up with her parents Beth and John Davis and her little sister, Eleanor. She’s a Singletary Scholar in the Lewis Honors College. Maggie is an active member of the Chi Omega sorority, where she served as the New Member Educator, among other leadership positions, as well as a writer for Kentucky Sports Radio. She spent her summer interning with ESPN in Los Angeles, and she’s pursuing a career in sports broadcasting. Go Cats!"

Maya Woolfolk Queen nomination by Alpha kappa alpha

Maya Woolfolk is originally from Louisville, Kentucky, and is the eldest daughter of Gregory and Andrea Woolfolk. She is a student in the Lewis Honors College, the Operations chair for DanceBlue, a member of the Honors College Ambassador Team, a former Chellgren fellow, and a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Additionally, she participates in undergraduate research in Biology and volunteers at Kentucky Children’s Hospital in the DanceBlue clinic. After graduating from UK, Maya plans to pursue a PhD in biology. She hopes to one day have her own lab and be a professor at a university."

Sally Martin Queen nomination by Danceblue

Sally Martin, of Owensboro, Kentucky, is the daughter of Greg and Elaine Martin. She is a Senior with a double major in Marketing and Media Arts and Studies as a Social Enterprise Scholar in the Lewis Honors College. She is a member of Alpha Gamma Delta and currently serves as the DanceBlue Overall Chair."

Minji Kim Queen Nomination by Undergraduate Nursing Activities and Advisory Council

Minji Kim, daughter of Jeongmee and Yongshin Kim, is a senior from Seoul, South Korea, majoring in nursing and minoring in psychology. She was nominated by Undergraduate Nursing Activities and Advisory Council. Minji loves socializing, learning a variety of topics, and playing the piano and cello. Minji is very excited and honored to represent college of nursing at UK."
